Lucy Hutchings

Growing fruit and veg the no dig way

Recently I attended a talk by Lucy Hutchings hosted by EAGG on 1st April 2023.

What a delight.  Lucy is a wonderful speaker, full of enthusiasm and very inspiring.
Her commitment to growing your own food, and experimenting with unusual varieties stimulated an interest in previously little known crops.

There was a lot of positive feedback from the talk, with over 90 members and guests and lots of questions particularly about the finer points of No Dig.  Lots of people expressed surprised  at the number of border flowers that were actually edible, e.g Hostas, Dahlias, and Hemerocallis to name a few.

Lucy is passionate about everyone trying to grow something to eat, saving air miles, and eating food that is as fresh as possible, and knowing how it has been grown.

Lucy donated a copy of her book, Get Up And Grow, and is currently in talks with Dorling Kindersley, on a second book. She is currently designing a show garden for Gardeners World - at the NEC in June, where she will also be giving talks.
